Mounting Options

In this first PCB release (prototype phase) we decided to avoid the side pads (for SMT mounting).

So Picus module will be mounted in the following ways:
1. Male 26 pin 2.54mm pin header connector (that suits a Female pin header on your PCB)
2. 26 ways flat cable (if you need to place Picus far from your PCB)

There’s a 3mm hole to let you fix the module with a screw in case of panel mounting or PCB mounting to avoid vibrations.

Back to the SMT side pads we need to increase the number of PCB layers (from 2 to 4) and so the cost.

The question is: do you think SMT version is useful/necessary?

IMHO SMT version could be useful but not necessary at this phase.

we also think so and we think that who’s gonna use PICUS in volumes will design a brand new PCB where he’ll integrate micro and wireless module directly
