Internet of Things: FlyPort turns-on/off the lights for you!

Posted by openPicus | On: Oct 20 2011

This application is for all those who are not familiar with Internet of Things (IoT), with openpicus controlling things from web.

Rfvito send us an interesting application with FlyPort. Practically, FlyPort is working as WiFi webserver interacting with a ZigBee network to turn on and off the lights. Each light has a ZigBee connected to it. The video stream is a link to the wifi webcam and it´s embed in the website code. Rfvito used ZigBee and a GSM module (not yet full implemented)

Here are some photos of the project:

I am wondering how the Flyport is communicating with the ZigBee network, since, ZigBee isn’t Wi-Fi. Could you provide us with more information on that point ? That would be interesting since you can’t use a network of Flyport boards.

Flyport can communicate with Zigbee network using Zigbee modules connected on its UART port for example. some users made this with the XBee modules.
